Strategic Economics seeks to fill the following position:
Research Analyst
Under the direction of senior staff, the Research Analyst will work on a variety of tasks including creating maps in ArcGIS and Adobe Illustrator; using excel to create tables, charts, and graphs to analyze demographic, employment and real estate market data; and conducting case studies or other qualitative research.
We invite candidates with solid analytical and mapping skills, background and interest in regional and local planning and economic development, and a desire to manage data to apply. The applicant must be comfortable working with numbers and have a desire to learn more about economic analysis, as well as having demonstrated GIS skills. The following experience and skills are required:
• An undergraduate degree in city planning, geography, public policy, or another related field
• Strong proficiency with ArcGIS
• Strong proficiency with Excel and database management
• Proficiency with data visualization
• Excellent research and communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Knowledge of PowerPoint and the Adobe Creative Suite
• Familiarity with basic statistical analysis
This position offers an opportunity for growth and career development. The ideal candidate would be interested in accepting increasing responsibilities as they gain experience in the position. This position can offer candidates the experience needed to pursue a career or graduate studies in urban planning or a related field.
The position is full-time and available immediately. Our benefits include health insurance with dental coverage, matching funds for employee 401(k) contributions, and annual paid time off for vacation, sickness, and family-related issues. We also offer a stipend for professional development. Work hours are flexible. Bay Area residency is preferred, but not required. Salary is commensurate with experience, with a salary range of $60,000 to $65,000.
